In April 2006 I started looking around for suitable office space in the financial district of Panama City, Panama. It was important to find a modern office with good Internet connection and at a central location. If you work long hours, you don't want to spend all the time in some building on the outskirts of the city. Something in or near the city center is nicer. I was lucky to find a newly remodeled office in the financial district with good security.

  • Thrifty Car Rental remodeled this building and started in 2006 to rent nice and modern office space at reasonable prices there. Thrifty's office is on the other side facing Via Espania. This is the entrace for the offices on the back.
  • I was lucky to find this bright office of about 100 m2. This is how it looked in July with some temporary furniture.
  • When our furniture arrived from Florida things started to change dramatically. A lot of work to do.

First Internet service

  • Initially I ordered Internet service from the local cable TV provider Cable Onda. This is the Motorola modem they install as CPE.

Switch to Fiber Optics for faster Internet connection

  • We got a new Fiber Optics line installed. This box terminates the cable from the street where it is hung on poles.
  • Optynex installed a managed switch connected to a FX-TX Ethernet converter. The line has 100 mbps capacity, but is throttled to 2 mbps.
